KAHAANI is a captivating recount from its commencement to conclusion. On the whole, KAHAANI works big time because Vidya Balan makes it come alive. It is several notches above the stuff we've been subjected to in the past. The movie triumphs in evoking emotions. You experience compassion, resentment, defenselessness and triumph at a variety of stages. A wonderful movie-going experience, you come out feeling a sense of pride, pleasure and fulfillment after having watched KAHAANI. Just do not miss it. Hugely recommended!Visit Site for more

In Kahaani Vidya Balan takes on her role with power and pride. Living out of a suitcase, amongst strangers, she takes on the soul of the city. Her performance leaves you in awe of an actress, who walks through her role as easily as a stroll down Chowranghee Lane. And even that is perfected as a pregnant waddle, add to it her disheveled look and eyes dark with anguish. Sujoy Ghosh's script and direction show no 'pregnant' pauses. It slams home a shock value that a thriller rightly demands. The story totally grips you and leaves you at a dramatic high. This one is Vidya's 'baby'. Ami shotti bolchi!Visit Site for more

very few films belonging to this genre are able to fit the right piece in the right place. And that's what makes Sujoy Ghosh's accomplishment in Kahaani worth all the applause that comes its way.He builds anticipation and tension without relying too much on the age-old ploy of red herrings or an overwhelming background score. It's as though he wants his viewer to follow the cues, solve the conundrum on a personal level and entertain every conceivable theory/ wild suggestion that pops in the head. Gratifying, if you nail it and astounding even when you don't. Either way his refreshing approach is appreciative of his viewer's intellect and enthusiasm.Sly, gripping and taut, Kahaani is much too enjoyable to find flaws. This is, without doubt, Sujoy Ghosh's best work so far. Go watch it.Visit Site for more

"Kahaani" is one of those rare films that can easily lay claim to being a game-changer. And yet the narrative makes no claims. The destiny of the protagonist is charted in a breathless sweep of urgently persuasive episodes that tumble out as though God wrote Vidya Bagchi's screenplay. Enthralling, absorbing and engaging the narrative never resorts to italicized emotions to get our attention. We are hooked unconditionally from scene one. We surrender to Vidya's journey. She gives us no choiceVisit Site for more

The suspense in Sujoy Ghosh’s ‘Kahaani’ may not be nail-chewing-worthy but he succeeds in getting Kolkata to perform at its peak and look like it’s on a wire between vintage and decrepit. The overall attitude of the city and the city’s voice is consistent in the story and the characters too. But forcing the goddess Durga metaphor in the end seems less like a tribute and more like ticking every Bengali stereotype imaginable to suggest the shooting location.Visit Site for more

KAHAANI is a thriller which you just cannot miss. Sujoy Ghosh goes about unraveling the mystery of Vidya Bagchi's (Vidya Balan) missing husband with such neat detailing that the trump card he reveals in the end is like a swift blow to the Solar Plexus. It catches you unawares and leaves you short of breath. Stupendous. Take a bow, Sujoy Ghosh. Book your ticket, and brace yourself for an unforgettable ride. I'm going to watch it again.Visit Site for more

Watching “Kahaani” unspool on screen made this journalist admire director Sujoy Ghosh all the more for spinning a yarn that, despite some predictable flaws, keeps the plot on track, with a gripping screenplay that demands excellence from its cast and crew.Such a grim premise could have faltered with a heavy-handed approach, but Ghosh has expertly weaved in subtle humour to bring a welcome relief to the proceedings. You’ve got to see it to believe it.Kahaani is a breath of fresh air in an industry that more often than not asks its audience to leave their brain at home and stroll into the cinemas.Sujoy Ghosh’s ace direction keeps the suspense taut, while Vidya Balan excels as a woman torn between conflicting emotions.Thank you Vidya Balan and Ghosh for showing gumption and courage to respect your audience.
